Lake Norman was brutal Saturday on the 35 teams competing and this time it wasn't so much the heat as the hundreds of power boats on the lake that had entered a poker run. Boats ranged from small runabouts to 40+ feet Donzi's which made the ride back to the weigh-in area a challenge.
The top team today however was Ted Geddis and Bill Warren with a nice 15.26 lb. limit. They took home a check for $1,300.00 and credited a Chatterbait for their catch! Great job guys!
Jeff Queen and Carroll Queen finished second with five bass weighing 13.85 lbs. good for $700.00 and used a small worm for their catch.
In third were Hank Cherry and Michael Smith with five fish weighing 13.68 lbs. and took home $440.00 in the process. They used a Jymsu Spinnerbait for their catch!
Taking fourth were Darrell Griffin and Shawn Baker with a limit weighing 13.40 lbs. They took home a check for $320.00 and used a jig for their catch!
Fifth place went to Chuck Montgomery and Louie Hull with five bass weighing 12.56 lbs. which was not only good for the $250.00 but with their finish they have won the Catawba Division Points title for 2007. They will receive FREE ENTRIES into the Catawba Division regular season for 2008. Great job guys!!!
The last money spot went to Stacey Richards and Matt Goins with a 12.19 lb. limit good for $200.00 but addedd another $340.00 for big fish of the tournament at 5.01 lbs. They big gal was caught on a worm!
The last event for the Catawba anglers is to be held on Lake Wateree on September 9 out of Clearwtaer Cove. This is a combined tournament with two other divisions and will determine the championship qualifers for each division. We're hoping for a good turnout on this one and Wateree should be great!
Don't forget our next SSSS which will be on Lake Wylie August 4 and our Tuesdat Night Madness on Lake Norman held each week until the 1st of October.
Top Gun Qualifers from the Catwba Division are Chuck Montgomery / Louie Hull, Jeff Queen / Carroll Queen and Clay Williams / David Redman. This tournament is set for April 13, 2008 on W. Kerr Scott and is a no entry fee event. 1st Place will receive $2,000.00. Congrats guys!!!
